Cognitive Load and Decision Fatigue of General Surgical Registrars in Australia
Dr Luke Fairweather, Professor Ian Incoll, and Professor Debra Nestel
The University of Melbourne
Overview
This project focusses on researching decision-fatigue in general surgery registrars and its impact on learning. The study involves an online interview.
about the survey
There is a lack of research looking at decision-making fatigue in surgical trainees. This qualitative study will explore the impact of cognitive load and decision fatigue on decision making ability and surgical education. Awareness of cognitive load and prevention of overload can aid in developing a safe learning environment for surgical trainees.
If you agree to participate, you will be asked to take part in a one-off approximately 30-45 minutes interview about your experiences of cognitive load and decision-making fatigue as a surgical registrar. This semi-structured individual interview will occur via Zoom, scheduled at your convenience.
