Members of GSA are General Surgeons who have completed their surgical training and have been admitted to Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. They may be undertaking  advanced training in subspecialised areas of General Surgery, and are dedicated to ongoing professional development to maintain their expertise in the diagnosis and management of General Surgical problems.

Most of our members are actively involved in teaching and research, and all are committed to maintaining the highest standards in their practice. The Society and its members promote the best evidence-based practice in order to improve the overall treatment of patients and the Australian community.

There are numerous benefits to being a member, but as a whole promoting and advocating for General Surgery as a prestigious surgical specialty, with a unified and collaborative approach, is of the utmost importance.
