SIMG Assessments & Forms

The following forms and assessments are for active Specialist International Medical Graduates (SIMGs) on a pathway to General Surgery recognition via supervision or oversight.

MALT FOR SIMGS

The use of the Morbidity Audit Logbook Tool (MALT) is mandatory for SIMGs under clinical assessment.

MINI-CLINICAL EXAMINATION (CEX)

The Mini-Clinical Examination assessment is a workplace-based assessment tool aimed at promoting learning by providing structured feedback on performance within a workplace context, and includes a self-evaluation component which is used to assist in teaching, management and assessment of clinical skills.

DIRECT OBSERVATION OF PROCEDURAL SKILLS - DOPS

The Direct Observation of Procedural Skills – DOPS – is also a workplace-based assessment tool. DOPS is a concise, validated method of assessment, and aids a supervisor in observing a trainee conducting a procedure, and providing feedback about their performance.
