Selection Dates & Deadlines

IMPORTANT DATES
- 6 JAN 2026 - Registrations open via RACS website.
- 30 JAN 2026 - RACS registrations close
- 16 FEB 2026 - General Surgery application log-in details sent to eligible candidates
- 18 FEB 2026 - GSET Selection applications opens at 12:00pm AEDT
- 19 MAR 2026 - Selection applications close at 5:00pm AEDT.
- 15 APR 2026 - Applicants who do not meet the eligibility requirement advised via email
- FROM 22 APR TO 06 MAY 2026 - Referee reporting period
- 23 APR 2026 - Last day to submit interview preferences
- 13 MAY 2026 - Interview offers notified by email
- FROM 18 MAY 2026 - Interview dates and times confirmed to candidates
- MAY/JUN 2026 - Physical Interviews carried out
- 24 JUL 2026 - First round offers made (via email prior to 12:00pm AEST)
- 14 AUG 2026 - Second round offers made (via email prior to 12:00pm AEST)
- 18 SEP 2026 - Third round offers made (via email prior to 12:00pm AEST)
- 02 OCT 2026 - Fourth round offers made where applicable (via email prior to 12:00pm AEST)
- 23 OCT 2026 - Fifth round offers made where applicable (via email prior to 12:00pm AEDT)
- 06 NOV 2026 - Final round offers made where applicable (via email prior to 12:00pm AEDT ).
- 25 NOV 2026 - Waitlisted applicants advised via email together with their feedback report
Important Details to Note
SELECTION APPLICATION FEE
The Selection Application fee payable for the 2026 Selection Process (for 2027 Intake) is $1,320.00 (incl. GST).
SELECTION APPLICATION CLOSE DATE / TIME
Please be aware that you must complete the GSET application – including payment – prior to the advertised closing date and time. The online application will automatically log you out at the close date / time, so please ensure you complete your application well in advance.
Late applications cannot be accepted under any circumstances.
NOTIFICATIONS
All communications and notifications will be via email. Please ensure that the email address you enter into the application is valid for the duration of the Selection process, and ensure that [email protected] is added to your ‘safe sender’ list.
OFFERS
Offers will be made up until such point that there are no more training posts to be filled. Applicants who do not receive an offer will remain on a waitlist unless written withdrawal of an application is received. Applicants who do not receive an offer during each round will be emailed advising that they will remain on the waitlist.
