Dr Peter Wysocki | LOGAN HOSPITAL, QUEENSLAND

Overview

The European Society of Coloproctology (ESCP) will be running an international, prospective audit of consecutive patients undergoing treatment for any pilonidal abscess over a 3 month period starting in late 2026.

dear colleague,

I, Peter Wysocki General Surgeon at Logan Hospital in Queensland am part of the PILO-ACT working group and will be the Australian lead for the project.

The key questions are: How is acute pilonidal abscess treated around the world? Are there factors influencing short term treatment outcomes?

A maximum of 5 investigators from each individual site will be included as formal co-investigators in this research and will be PubMed searchable and citable.

I have already obtained local ethics approval, so this should make it easier for other sites. Please note that ethics approval will need to be gained for each site that participates.

If you / your team would like to be involved as a site lead or local investigator, please contact me: [email protected]
