BreastSurgANZ is pleased to present the inaugural Level 2 Clinician-Performed Breast Ultrasound – Advanced Workshop to be held on Saturday 15 August, 8.30am – 5.00pm at the Translational Research Institute, Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane.
This single day event, has been specifically designed by workshop convenors Professor Ian Bennett (QLD), Dr Daniel de Viana (QLD) and Dr Michael Law (VIC) for breast surgeons, with a strong emphasis on advanced interventional techniques. This workshop will build on the foundational Level 1 Clinician-Performed Breast Ultrasound – Introductory workshop delivered by ASBD and will equip participants to transition confidently into independent, advanced practice.
The workshop has a structured curriculum featuring high-impact lectures centred on advanced interventional skills together with immersive hands-on training to maximise practice opportunities and provide realistic, interventional scenarios to build advanced technical confident.
Lectures will feature in-depth coverage of:
- Fine-needle and core biopsy principles and techniques
- Vacuum-assisted biopsies (VAB) and excisions (VAE)
- Intraoperative ultrasound applications
- Accreditation, infection control and cost planning
- exploration of emerging evidence for minimally invasive approaches, including VAB for B3 lesions and small breast cancers

Attendance pre-requisite
Completion of the ASBD Level 1 Clinician-Performed Breast Ultrasound Introductory Workshop or equivalent and/or equivalent prior experience is a prerequisite for attendance.
