Promoting Advancement in Surgical Education (PrASE) Course Grants

The GSA PrASE Course Grant was established to encourage senior Trainees and Younger Fellows to attend the RACS PrASE Course, to foster them to become supervisors on the General Surgery SET program.

Recipients of the Grant in 2022 are:

  • NSW/ACT: Dr Alexander Papachristos FRACS
  • NSW/ACT: Dr Philip Chia FRACS
  • VIC/TAS: Dr Suellyn Centauri FRACS
  • SA/NT: Dr Yick Ho Lam FRACS
  • QLD: Dr Hany Ibrahim FRACS
  • WA: Dr Anitha Karunairajah FRACS

The course empowers surgical educators to deliver excellence in training and education by exploring learner-centred surgical education, trust and feedback, trainees at risk, assessment and supervision, and leadership in surgical education.

All current SET5+ General Surgery Trainees that have successfully passed the Fellowship Examination are eligible to apply. Younger Fellows who are financial members of GSA and who were awarded FRACS in General Surgery in the two (2) years prior to nomination are also eligible to apply.

Up to seven (7) Grants (one per training region and two in New South Wales and Victoria) will be awarded each year to a Trainee/Younger Fellow in General Surgery.

Nominations for 2023 will open in December 2022.
