Online payments

GSA does not capture or store credit card information directly. All online payments to GSA are made via the secure ANZ eGate facility.

Privacy policy

General Surgeons Australia is interested in the privacy and safety of our visitors. The GSA Privacy Policy has been developed to protect users' privacy in compliance with privacy legislation. The policy details circumstances under which personal information is obtained, used, and shared. Whilst GSA is able to confirm that a particular individual is a member or Trainee, and may provide practice details, GSA may be required to restrict the disclosure of other personal information. In some instances, costs may need to be recovered in supplying or utilising personal information.

Information collected - Identified

GSA may collect identifiable information such as contact details. Further, access to member only services has been made possible by using information contained in GSA databases. Accordingly, we collect personal information to facilitate the granting of access to member only services.

Access to information collected

GSA will not knowingly make an attempt to identify users or their browsing activities. However, in the unlikely event of an investigation, a law enforcement agency or other government agency may exercise its legal authority to inspect our Internet Service Provider's logs, and thus gain information about users and their activities. All of the identified information that GSA has used to grant access can be viewed and changed by users when they view their personal details.

Use and disclosure of information collected

GSA collects personal information for a number of purposes (being the primary purposes of collection), including:

  • to provide membership services and benefits and maintain membership and service/benefits records;
  • to assist, support, provide and improve continuing professional development and education and training;
  • to enable internal administration, training, assessments and reviews.

Any information users provide will only be used for the primary purposes for which users have provided it or a secondary purpose if it directly relates to the primary purpose or for any other lawful purpose.

GSA engages third parties to perform certain business functions. Therefore, it is sometimes necessary to disclose personal information to those suppliers. Disclosures may also be made to other third parties, including advisors and regulatory authorities. Where disclosure takes place, GSA seeks to ensure that personal information is handled appropriately.

Finding a General Surgeon

Your family doctor will be in a position to refer you to a General Surgeon in your area.

Financial members of GSA who have demonstrated appropriate participation and compliance with Continuing Professional Development can elect to have their details published in the Find a Surgeon Service on this website. The membership directory may be useful in helping you to identify a General Surgeon in your area.

Information retrieved by the Find a Surgeon Service on the GSA website will be limited to the practice address, phone and website URL of members who are listed.
