Terms & Conditions
To be eligible for GSA membership as an Ordinary Member a person must be a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons accredited to practice as a specialist General Surgeon and practice in Australia.
To be eligible for GSA membership as a Junior Member a person must be a doctor with full registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
Membership fees are due in full on joining GSA. The following terms and conditions apply to GSA membership.
GSA constitution
All members are bound by the GSA constitution, and all by-laws, notices, and directives of GSA.
Conditions of membership
By completing an application for membership, GSA members indicate their acceptance of all terms and conditions of membership.
Failure to Pay Entrance Fee and/or Subscription
If an applicant whose application for membership has been accepted by the Board fails to pay the entrance fee (if any) and initial annual or once only subscription (if any) payable in respect of that application, at the time of making the application or within such period (if any) thereafter as the Board may in its absolute discretion allow, the Society's acceptance of the application shall lapse.
Failure to pay subscriptions
Any member whose annual subscription remains unpaid for more than twelve (12) calendar months after the end of the month in which it falls due for payment shall thereupon cease to be a member of the Society PROVIDED HOWEVER that the Board may, in its discretion, reinstate that member’s membership upon payment of all arrears.
Cancellation/refund policy
GSA does not provide refunds on membership fees.
Transfer of membership
GSA memberships are individual and non-transferable.
Costs incurred by GSA in processing membership fees
All unexpected costs incurred by GSA in the processing of membership fees may be charged back to the member. Such costs include, but are not limited to, bounced cheques fees and related bank charges.
